Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka came out of her break from social media to share her stunning cover of Vogue Japan for their Autumn issue.
“Hi guys. Popping out to post this @voguejapan cover, hope you’re all doing well and staying safe 🧡💚,” she captioned the post.
On the cover, Osaka rocks her trademark curls in a straight do. She is decked out in a navy and white Louis Vuitton bikini top, bright orange pants and a sky blue and yellow Vuitton purse around her waist.
“The cover girl for the August issue of “VOGUE JAPAN” is Naomi Osaka!” the publication’s caption begins. “In a special interview, she talks about why she keeps trying and her freedom. This month’s issue explores tips for discovering a new self under the theme of “Here I am.” We will deliver self-compassion, methods that love you, and fortune-telling special features that are the key to future forecasts.”
Several other iconic fashion looks from Osaka’s shoot.
The famous fashion magazine says that the interview was conducted remotely and that the photoshoot took place in the U.S.
The August issue will be released on Monday, June 28.
Last week, Osaka’s team announced that she has withdrawn from Wimbledon but that she still would compete at the Tokyo Olympics.
“She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans,” a statement issued by her reps said.
The tennis champ ranks no.2 in the world. She also withdrew from the French Open after the first round, citing a much-needed mental health break. She was fined $15,000.
“I’ve often felt that people have no regard for athletes’ mental health and this rings very true whenever I see a press conference or partake in one,” she wrote at the time. “We’re often sat there and asked questions that we’ve been asked multiple times before or asked questions that bring doubt into our minds and I’m just not going to subject myself to people that doubt me.”
