Rap superstar Nicki Minaj has welcomed her first child with husband, Kenneth Petty.
Minaj welcomed her bundle of joy on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
The baby’s name and sex have yet to be revealed. The child’s birth comes just weeks ahead of the couple’s first wedding anniversary on Oct. 21.
Minah first announced her pregnancy on Instagram on July 20, via a maternity shoot with photographer David LaChappelle.
“Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes,” she captioned one of the pregnancy announcement images at the time.
In June 2019, Minaj announced on Queen Radio that she and Petty had obtained a marriage license and would be heading down the aisle shortly.
“We did get our marriage license,” she told her fans. “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
In September 2019, Minaj announced her retirement via Twitter: “I’ve decided to retire and have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box—cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
She then doubled back on the tweet, apologizing to her fans.
“I’m still right here,” she explained. “Still madly in Love with you guys and you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion and it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt and insensitive, I apologize babe.”
