It’s finally here. Remy Ma and Lil’ Kim’s collaborative single, “Wake Me Up.” And let’s not front like we weren’t all waiting for it either! Many have been speculating whether or not the forthcoming release was a Nicki Minaj diss track. Now it’s out, I’m sure fans will be divided on how to interpret the lyrics, but one thing’s for sure – “Wake Me Up” knocks!!!
On the track, Remy pays homage to the Queen Bee, who provides the catchy hook over the hypnotic, piano-led instrumental (which is a guaranteed neck-breaker.) The beat comes courtesy of Cool And Dre, Smitty Beatz and 808 Ray and features the classic Roberta Flack sample used on Lil Kim’s 1996 classic, “Queen B*tch.” The track is from Remy’s upcoming album, 7 Winters & 6 Summers, her first solo album in over a decade, slated for release in 2018.
I’m not going to speculate over whether or not shots were taken throughout the song, but “Wake Me Up” is a banger and will be in rotation for a minute! Remy and Kim make great music together. More, please!
Oh, and one more thing… A video for the song is on the way too!
