“Work” singer, Rihanna, 30 was asked to perform during the 2019 Super Bowl, but declined, citing the stance of Colin Kaepernick, who began protesting extrajudicial murder of unarmed citizens by police by kneeling during the national anthem in 2016. She fully supports Colin Kaepernick and doesn’t agree with the NFL’s current policies.

Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March of 2017, and filed a grievance that the NFL and its team owners “have colluded to deprive Mr. Kaepernick of employment rights” according to ESPN. He has become a true hero due to his kneeling protests and has encourages everyone to stand up for what they believe in. He is also the spokesman for Nike’s 30th anniversary of their iconic Just Do It campaign.

As we know, performing at the Super Bowl is a huge milestone in an artist’s career. There is still speculation that Maroon 5 and Cardi B may be performing.

Rihanna is still selling out of her Fenty Beauty products and there are rumors about a reggae album coming out soon–we’d love for that to be true!

Kudos to Rihanna for choosing morals over money! #westan #blackgirlmagic #crownsup
