Nigerian singer Tems has officially joined the ownership group of San Diego FC, making her the latest high-profile investor in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The two-time Grammy Award winner announced her involvement through her company, The Leading Vibe, partnering with Pave Investments to support the club’s vision.
She joins a diverse group of owners, including actor Issa Rae, footballer Juan Mata, and MLB star Manny Machado, all committed to building a team that embraces culture, creativity, and community.
Tems Expands Beyond Music
Tems, known for her global hits and collaborations with artists like Drake, Future, and Beyoncé, expressed her excitement about the move on X (formerly Twitter):
“Proud to support SDFC’s @right2dream initiative, empowering young talent on and off the field. Can’t wait for what’s ahead @mls!”
San Diego FC, a newly established MLS franchise, will play its inaugural home match on March 1st.
A Growing Trend of Celebrity Investors in Sports
Tems is among a growing number of entertainers investing in professional sports, further blending music, culture, and athletics. With two Grammys, four NAACP Image Awards, four BET Awards, and three Soul Train Music Awards, her influence extends beyond music into business and philanthropy.
Her investment in San Diego FC aligns with the Right to Dream initiative, which focuses on developing young talent and expanding opportunities in soccer.
As San Diego FC prepares for its debut season, Tems’ involvement adds star power and a fresh perspective to the team’s future in MLS.
