SZA’s SOS album has made a triumphant return to the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 chart, following the release of the deluxe reissue, Lana.

The 15-track extension of the critically acclaimed album helped push SOS to its 11th total week at the top, setting a new record for the longest gap between No. 1 weeks in the chart’s 67-year history.

The deluxe edition, which includes a feature from Kendrick Lamar on “30 for 30,” has resonated with fans, contributing to a combined 178,000 album units earned in the week ending December 26. Official streams also surged to an impressive 220 million.

The album’s return to the top spot is a significant achievement, especially given that it was released with minimal promotional support, a fact that SZA herself acknowledged with gratitude in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In her message, SZA thanked fans for their continued support, despite the lack of major playlisting, promo, or radio play, saying:

“The fact that yall have me at number one for a third day w no playlisting. no promo. no radio. onna deluxe. This is why I try my best because yall always got me no matter what. Thank you.”

The Lana release follows months of anticipation, with fans eager for more from SZA after the massive success of SOS. The album had its official rollout in December, with a sneak peek of the track “Kitchen” and a visual for the song “Drive,” starring Ben Stiller. Prior to the deluxe edition’s arrival, SOS had seen notable performances, including a memorable Grammy win for SZA in 2023, where she took home three awards out of nine nominations.

The deluxe edition was first teased by SZA in interviews leading up to the original album’s release, promising new music from the artist who had not released an album since Ctrl in 2017. Along with Kendrick Lamar’s feature, the Lana reissue also showcases collaborations with producers like ThankGod4Cody, Carter Lang, and Lil Yachty, cementing SZA’s role as one of the industry’s most influential artists.
