The family of Barbara Nomakhosi, a 35-year-old carer, has paid tribute to her after she was tragically found dead in Bury on Friday night.

Describing her as a “caring and thoughtful” person, Nomakhosi’s loved ones shared their grief and honored her memory, as Greater Manchester Police (GMP) launched a murder investigation.

Nomakhosi was discovered on Walnut Avenue, Bury, at 10:30 PM BST with multiple injuries.

According to police, she had died earlier that evening. GMP confirmed that a male suspect, believed to be involved in her death, died in a separate incident about an hour later.

At 9:00 PM BST on Friday, a man in his 40s was struck and killed by an HGV lorry while walking on the M65 in Blackburn, Lancashire.

The man, identified as a suspect in Nomakhosi’s death, died at the scene. Authorities stated that no additional suspects are being sought in connection with the murder.

Family Mourns Loss of “Thoughtful” and “Hard-Working” Carer

In a statement, Nomakhosi’s family expressed their devastation at her untimely death.

“Barbara was a caring and hard-working person,” they said. “She was so thoughtful and always checking up on her family and friends. Barbara loved her family and enjoyed working as a carer. We loved Barbara so much, and life will not be the same without her.”

Investigation Continues

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis of GMP extended his condolences to the family, acknowledging the profound loss they are facing.

“I know just how much Barbara’s family will miss her, and I hope that the memories of her can provide comfort as they begin to come to terms with this heart-breaking loss,” he said.

The investigation is still ongoing, and GMP is working closely with Lancashire authorities as they examine the circumstances of the fatal collision involving the suspect.

DCI Davis added:

“This is a complex investigation, and we are doing everything we can to support Barbara’s family during this difficult time.”
