On Tuesday, Adult Swim premiered its newest digital short series, “Alabama Jackson,” on their YouTube channel.
In the series, time-traveling Alabama Jackson (Donald Faison) and Harriet Tubman (played by Wanda Sykes) are on a mission to protect Black history from the wicked President Woodrow Wilson (Seth Green) and the KKKabal.
“I was like, you know, this dude’s going across the world—he’s in Africa, sometimes he’s in China—and there’s so much history, there’s so much Black history out there that nobody’s investigating. Wouldn’t it be really dope if there was somebody like the Black Indiana Jones, who was going across the continent and trying to find all of this Black history?” Faison told Paste Magazine’s, Clare Martin.
The new digital short series consists of seven new episodes airing daily at Noon ET / 9:00 a.m. PT beginning Tuesday, February 15 through Monday, February 21 on Adult Swim’s YouTube channel.

Sykes is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and has been using her star status to help make a positive change in Hollywood.
“My audience is very diverse and even before I was out I had a nice following from the LGBTQ community,” she told the THR’s Shannon O’Conner in2020. “Once I came out, now they’re a little more vocal just to let me know that they are there. It took a minute when I first came out, because the audience expected me to go on stage and talk about being gay or talk about gay issues. But I am on stage talking about my wife and my kids, and that is pretty gay. I think my life represents us. I think that is the place where we have to get to, where we can tell our stories and it’s not just the story about being other.”
Sykes will be co-hosting the upcoming Oscars Awards next month.
