TV and radio personality Wendy Williams has been out of rehab for over a month now, but she has yet to speak with her only son, who she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Hunter, Sr.
According to a source, “Wendy has not reached out to her son since she left rehab. While she was in treatment, they were talking but the minute she got out the communication stopped.”
The insider went on to explain that her son, Kevin Hunter, Jr., has not taken his mother’s personal and professional struggles lightly. The 22-year-old college senior “has been through hell this year with everything going on with his mom,” adding that “it breaks his heart that things seem to be going good while she was in rehab, but soon as she got her freedom, she hasn’t reached out to him since.”
The source continued: “Kevin has been trying to stay focused and finish up his last year of school, but it’s been challenging to have to deal with everything going on with his mother.”
Another insider with close ties to the family said, “Wendy’s relationship with Kevin Jr. has been strained. He gave her an ultimatum. He told her he won’t be in her life unless she fixes herself.”
Earlier this year, Kevin Jr. shot down claims that he charged a six-figure amount to his mother’s brokerage account. He also faced allegations of charging $100,000 to Williams’ American Express card last year.
In January, Williams appeared to be on the right track after her son posted a photo on his IG story of her eating a salad. A month later, the embattled TV host’s life unraveled for the world to see. She addressed her fight against Wells Fargo, which froze her accounts after her financial advisor at the time said she was of “unsound mind.” Her show was cancelled months later.
