“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg has received an apology from “Shark Tank” co-host Barbara Cocoran after making an inappropriate joke about her body on a recent episode.
“I just came back from ‘The View’ and saw my old friend Whoopi, “Cocoran said in a video shared to Twitter. “She has a phenomenal sense of humor, and I’ve known Whoopi for years.”
“I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny. For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”
Corcoran was on the show sharing that Emma Grede – the co-founder and CEO of denim brand Good American – will be the first Black, female guest shark on “Shark Tank.”
Goldberg said, “Well, I have to try them,” adding, “Will they fit this COVID [butt]?”
Cocoran then responded, “When you get finished with those jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m gonna make two pairs.”
Oh, dear.
Ana Navarro took exception to Cocoran’s remarks and chimed in, “OK, so now we don’t like you,” she said. “Wait, wait, wait, Whoopi, can I just tell you something? Both [The View co-host] Sara Haines and [first lady] Jill Biden wore that dress already on TV,” while pointing at Corcoran. She then tore up her notes.
Social media was also up in arms.
Cocoran did not get the Sharks off to a good start… introducing their first Black female guest by insulting another Black woman on live television. We’re sure all is forgiven.
Cocoran has learned this lesson the hard way. Social media is not always so forgiving.
