9-Year Old Spreads #BlackGirlMagic With Her Handmade Bath Products

by Yah Yah

9-Year Old Jelani Jones had been regularly attending her local Farmer’s Market in Fredericksburg, Virginia, before one of the vendors invited her to take a class in making fizzy bath bombs, then the rest, as they say, is history! With some startup money from her parents, Jelani went on to create Lani Boo Bath, a range of handmade bath products.

I’ve always loved mixing things together for bath products! After years of weekend trips to the farmer’s market and testing out (okay playing in) all of the scrubs, lotions, soaps and bath bombs…one of the vendors (who is now my mentor) invited me to a class to learn the skill behind making bath bombs, soaps, and other bath products.

Lani’s brand of natural, homemade bath products, which include the scents Lavender, Sweet Pea, Eucalyptus Spearmint and Mango Papaya, has been receiving a lot of attention nationwide and she does all this while maintaining an “A” average at school.

During her interview with the Atlanta Star, Lani had some words of wisdom for the parents out there:

“Most kids are already creative. They not only need to hear that they can do anything, but parents need to help them be successful,” – Jelani Jones.

You can purchase Lani Boo Bath products via her Etsy page and follow her on Instagram @LaniBooBath.
