By now I’m sure you’ve heard Ashanti and Nelly are officially an item – again! But some of you may not know that there were clues all along. Shine My Crown did some investigations to piece together evidence we’ve been keeping an eye on all along.
The pair originally began seeing each other in 2003 but broke up nearly a decade later, leaving fans heartbroken because it didn’t last.
But then things took a turn for the better when the St. Louis rapper approached the Long Island R&B crooner while on stage at a 2021 Verzuz matchup, featuring her longtime brothers Ja Rule and Fat Joe.
That was the beginning of what some deemed to be a possible rekindling of a romance.
The following year, the pair were seen together at a Tennessee club after performing at a concert. And in December, they took the stage to perform at a Christmas concert in Arizona.
Then in February 2023, on a Nelly and Ashanti fan page bearing the handle @fanmode2022, an image was posted of the couple in matching necklaces. Ashanti’s necklace was tucked underneath two silver chains draped atop while Nelly wore his chain over a black collared polo shirt.

And in April, rumors of the pair being together rang louder after they were seen together ringside during a boxing match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia in Vegas.
The Happy singer, 42, and the Hot in Herre rapper, 48, were spotted in the second row alongside Jermaine Dupri during the fight, reigniting rumors that they are back together after breaking up 10 years ago.
In one video that has surfaced online, the rumored couple can be seen holding hands as they walk through a crowd. And in another video, both are seen taking their seats as the fight is about to begin.
In 2015, Ashanti revealed why the on-again-off-again couple went their separate ways during an episode of The Meredith Vieira Show stating that she was “betrayed” by the star.
But hopefully, the second time will be the charm. Wishing them both the best in their new union!
