Tyla’s instincts are spot on. Drake followed her as predicted, but fans say he follows all the VERY YOUNG girls.
South African Superstar Tyla Seethal says she was “lowkey” waiting for Canadian rapper Drake to recognize her talent and follow her on Instagram.
Tyla has been rising quickly on the chart these past few months after her breakout hit single, “Water”, went viral.
The song, released on July 28, currently sits at over 217 million streams. The hot summer-ready jam is now at the tenth spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The South African pop artist also recently added some remixes to the song. Travis Scott and EDM megastar producer Marshmello each have their versions of “Water”.
Last week, she won her first SA Style Award due to her incredible rise.
Judges at the SA Style Awards announced the musician as the winner of The Most Stylish Performing Artist award in light of her explosive rise globally.
At some point, Tyla expected to receive co-signs from other major artistes, including Drake.
In a recent interview with Big Boy, the 21-year-old singer disclosed she expected a follow-up from the Canadian icon.
“Definitely Drake because I was lowkey waiting for him. Because I knew he’s gonna come. He’s gonna come.
“So I was waiting for that follow. And hey, he was there,” Tyla excitedly disclosed.
The comments underneath the post are making the joke that whenever a new female artist begins to pop off, Drake follows the new girlie for about a year.
According to fans, Drake allegedly has a thing for African women. Some also feel that he targets young, talented artistes as potential romantic interests.
One of the most recent was Drake flying Ice Spice to Toronto to attend a party with him. They later unfollowed each other but have not made any music together.
Tyla also hinted at a collab with Drake, but she said, “Maybe. I’m silenced.”
Could you see these two working on music together?
