Free Marie Wright, host of the long-running BET show 106 & Park, has finally put an end to one of the most enduring rumors in hip-hop history: that she had a secret child with rapper Jay-Z.
For years, the persistent rumor circulated in the entertainment industry. And it was famed TV personality Wendy Williams who ignited the scandal with her shocking claims on air, despite both parties’ silence on the matter. Williams claimed that Wright gave birth to a child fathered by Jay-Z and that the birth occurred at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn.
The year Wendy Williams reported this, but in a clip from the report, she says, “Free gave birth Monday. 50, and Jay-Z was there. “She gave birth in Brooklyn at Methodist Hospital.
“Who do we shout out to? Oh, hell, Beyoncé. What are you going to do now, B? Let’s get some flowers together to send over to Methodist Hospital. ‘Congratulations to Free. Let’s get some ‘Keep your head up’ flowers together and send them over to Beyoncé.’ And some ‘Damn you’ flowers to send over to Jay-Z.”
And now, following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal troubles, which include a federal indictment on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, attention has shifted to his associates, including Jay-Z and his alleged secret baby with his alleged former mistress, Free.
Now, Free has finally put the speculation to rest once and for all.
In a video reposted by Livebitez’s Instagram on October 9, Free, who looked like she was working out on Live, began reading a fan comment that said, “Where’s the kid that you and—”
She chose not to read the rest of the sentence before replying, “You know, I be reading it all the way thinking y’all got a real question. Cut it out. I’ll say it one more time. Free has no biological children” with a smile, before adding, “You cotton-picking fools! Cotton-picking nuts.”
Many fans responded to the video, seemingly baffled that Free, who had chosen to remain quiet about the issue for years, is now addressing this decades-old rumor at such a time.
Note that over the weekend, Foxy Brown, one of Jay-Z’s former music associates, also addressed long-standing claims that the 24-time Grammy award-winning rapper forced her to sign an NDA to buy her silence.
