Jamarcus Glover, the ex-boyfriend of Breonna Taylor, who was also the target of the Lousiville Police investigation on the night Taylor was gunned down in her home — was offered a plea bargain in July if he agreed to name her as part of his “organized crime syndicate.”
Glover was the subject of the no-knock raid, which led to police shooting her in her home and leaving her to bleed to death.
Glover was asked by the police to confirm that over some time through April 22, he and several “co-defendants,” including Taylor, trafficked large amounts of drugs “into the Louisville community.”
He denies that Taylor was involved in such activities.
“The police are trying to make it out to be my fault and turning the whole community out here making it look like I brought this to Breonna’s door,” Glover told The Courier-Journal in a video interview. “There was nothing never there or anything ever there, and at the end of the day, they went about it the wrong way and lied on that search warrant and shot that girl out there,” he said.
The revelation appears to be yet another attempt to smear Taylor’s name. Previously, LMPD Detective Joshua Jaynes wrote that Glover was seen leaving Taylor’s home in January with a “suspected USPS package in his right hand.” They then say that Glover immediately drove to a “known drug house” on Muhammad Ali Boulevard.
In the affidavit, Jaynes wrote that “through a US Postal Inspector,” Glover received several packages from Taylor’s address. But the USPS shut down his claims after a U.S. postal inspector in Louisville said police did not use his office to verify that Glover was receiving packages at Taylor’s apartment.
WDRB reports that another agency was asked January to look into whether Taylor’s home was receiving suspicious mail. The inspector concluded that Jaynes’ claims were false.
The state’s Attorney Tom Wine insists that Glover implicated Taylor. “Mr. Glover implicated Ms. Taylor in his criminal activity,” he said in a statement. “When I was advised of the discussions, out of respect for Ms. Taylor, I directed that Ms. Breonna Taylor’s name be removed. The final plea sheet provided to Mr. Glover’s counsel is attached and clearly does not include Ms. Taylor as a co-defendant.”
