Akbar V took to X to share her thoughts on the latest buzz surrounding two of rap’s titans: Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne.
The hip-hop world thrives on debates, comparisons, and fiery opinions—and Akbar V just entered the chat.
Two days ago, on November 22, Kendrick Lamar dropped his sixth album, GNX, where he addressed his supposed feud with fellow rapper Lil Wayne.
The 37-year-old Compton rapper tackled the controversy that arose after it was announced he would perform at next year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will take place in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.
Fans of Lil Wayne, including his manager, daughter, and Nicki Minaj, rose up against the decision, arguing that choosing Kendrick Lamar to perform was an insult to Lil Wayne, a native of New Orleans.
On “Wacced Out Murals,” the opening track of GNX, Lamar references a classic Lil Wayne album from 2008 and their recent skirmishes over the Super Bowl halftime as he raps: “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”
A few bars later, he adds: “Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n***** agitated / I’m just glad it’s on their faces / Quite frankly, plenty artist but they outdated / Old-a** flows trying to convince me that you they favorite.”
The next day, on November 23, Lil Wayne seemingly responded to Kendrick Lamar’s shade on X at 4 AM ET, “Man, wtf I do?! I just be chillin’ & dey still come 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me, but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”
While the fan-driven narrative pits the two lyrical giants against each other, Akbar’s take added a fresh twist to the conversation.
“If I’m not mistaken, I don’t think Wayne said anything bout Kendrick doing the Super Bowl, the fans did,” Akbar tweeted.
She continued with an optimistic outlook, adding, “I’m kinda happy Kendrick started something ’cause Wayne needs to drop new music. We miss him.”
But that’s not all—Akbar made a bold prediction that immediately caught the attention of fans: “Oh, I fear he has awakened the sleeping giant. Lil Wayne is about to serve.”
Fans were quick to react to Akbar’s comments.
“I understood it a bit differently. Kendrick said, “I guess all my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” meaning he has been working hard and earned the right to perform at the Superbowl, but he didn’t think his getting chosen would crush one of his idol’s dreams. So he let Wayne down. Thats all. No beef, no nothing. Some of y’all comprehension is bad, lol,” a fan commented.
Another added, “Nah. Let’s keep it a buck! Wayne was feeding off his fans. It was entitlement, and the wrong energy was directed at Kendrick. Wayne is nice. Arguably top ten, but let’s not act like K Dot, not too 5! If Wayne drops anything related to Kendrick, Kendrick boutta murk the whole Young Money! And I said what I said.”
