Earlier this month, fans of Doja cat and SZA were amped to get news that their favorites artists would be teaming up to release a video for their collaborative single, “Kiss Me More.”
And the visuals have dropped just in time for the weekend.
The colorful visual stars “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Alex Landi as an astronaut who finds himself stranded on a planet occupied by just two inhabitants — Doja and SZA.
And they are ginormous.
The lost astronaut is seen wandering around the strange, new land as the ladies sing out that they want their lover (presumably him) to kiss them more. Things get steamier further along in the video when he plucks a mysterious fruit from the tree and devours it before he is transported to a delectable fantasy.
“Boy, you write your name, I can do the same/ Oh, I love the taste, la-la-la-la-la. All on my tongue, I want it!” sings Doja.
While Doja’s has often dipped into the pop stream, the vibes of this particular bop may be a slight departure from the soulful jams SZA fans are used to. But SZA has proven herself nothing if not versatile since the beginnings of her career, and loyal fans will find it hard not to love this feel-good offering.
“Kiss Me More” is precisely what Doja fans have come to expect. Fun. Upbeat. Vibrant and leaning heavily toward the quirky side.
The track is the first single from Doja’s upcoming album, “Planet Her,” which will drop sometime later this year.
