Lil Uzi Vert tried to show love to JT on her birthday, but the internet wasn’t exactly impressed. In fact, fans wasted no time dragging the rapper’s tribute, calling it everything from lackluster to “dry as Popeyes biscuits.”

It all started when Uzi posted a sweet but simple birthday message to JT on Instagram Stories. They shared a photo of the two together and wrote:

“I wanna say thank you for everything. Happy birthday to a very, very special person. Today felt different. Thank you for always helping me see the real. Love you.”

Cute, right? Well… not according to the comment section.

Social media immediately jumped in with reactions that ranged from skeptical to downright comical. One person wrote, “Saying ‘love you’ without the ‘I’ just sounds like you forcing it.” Another chimed in with, “Very special person is crazy. But I’m single so… nvm.”

A few fans even compared the message to something you’d write your favorite coworker, not your partner. “It’s giving gay bestie’s bday shoutout,” one user quipped.

But others pushed back at the criticism, wondering why people were so pressed about a man calling his woman “a very special person.” “Is she not?????” one fan asked. “Anyways, happy birthday, JT.”

Despite the online chaos, JT has been having a major year. The Miami rapper dropped two solo tracks, including the fan-favorite “Girls Gone Wild,” which was confirmed as the first single from her upcoming debut album. She’s reportedly heavily involved in crafting the entire project and wants a sound that’s energetic, polished, and performance-ready.

And as for JT and Uzi? Their relationship continues to hold fans’ attention. JT told Cosmopolitan back in July that wedding bells are definitely in their future. She didn’t spill too much tea, though. The proposal, she says, will be private when it happens.
