Monica stepped in after Ray J’s messy, public call-out of Beyoncé and JAY-Z for allegedly snubbing his sister, Brandy.
In a moment of pure, on-stage reality TV, Monica seized Ray J’s phone during an Atlanta performance on December 4th, effectively putting an end to his social media shenanigans.
The “So Gone” singer didn’t hesitate, calling Ray J out playfully in front of the entire crowd.
“Before we leave here, I am going to take Ray J’s phone. Ray J, give me the phone… give me the phone, Ray,” she instructed, waiting for him to hand it over from the front row.
Once the deed was done, Monica made sure to send him off with love, cementing their sisterly bond while delivering the much-needed discipline: “We love you, Ray J. Y’all make some noise for Ray J. He’s not just Brandy’s brother, but he’s my brother, too.”
Brandy, ever the comedian, joked that Monica’s intervention had just given her brother a new topic for his next rant: “I hope you know I’m [gonna] have to hear this all night, ‘Monica is my sister now!'”
The comedic call-out was a direct response to Ray J’s viral “crashouts.” Days earlier, he posted a highly controversial video, dragging JAY-Z and Beyoncé, accusing them of showing favoritism and disrespecting Brandy.
Ray J claimed the famous couple attended multiple shows and allegedly walked right past Brandy’s dressing room without speaking to her, while somehow making plenty of time for Monica.
He demanded, “Come on, say what’s up to Brandy. JAY-Z and Beyoncé, for y’all to come to every show and not speak to B, I don’t like that.”
To add another layer of drama, almost simultaneously, confusing comments surfaced on Brandy’s official Instagram page, appearing to throw shade at the “16 Carriages” singer. While Brandy’s team later blamed a “hacker,” the social media damage was already done.
