A Baltimore mother is grieving an unthinkable loss — and holding onto a haunting feeling she says she can’t ignore.
“I just knew in my heart that something was wrong,” Syreeta Chase said, recalling the moment she stopped hearing from her daughter.
Her daughter, 27-year-old India Thomas, had traveled to Houston, Texas, in February with her boyfriend, 25-year-old Darrell Hall. The trip was meant to be a celebration — a stop on the way to Miami for Thomas’ birthday.
Instead, it ended in tragedy.

A Mother’s Intuition
Chase described her daughter as more than just family, but her best friend.
“She was a spoiled, cute little curly head girl with big ol’ eyes and she had a sassy personality,” she said.
The two shared a close bond, spending time together the way many friends would. But when Thomas told her about the trip, Chase said she felt uneasy.
“My intuition told me that my daughter should not be hanging out in Texas,” she said. “I just told my daughter not to go.”
Despite her concerns, Thomas went ahead with the trip.
Silence Before the Storm
Chase remained in contact with her daughter throughout the day on Friday, Feb. 27. But around 11 p.m., the messages stopped.
That silence, she said, felt different. “I just knew… something was wrong.”
The next day, her worst fears were confirmed.
A Devastating Discovery
Houston police say the bodies of Thomas and Hall were found near the airport on Radio Road.
Hall was discovered in the roadway. Thomas was found in a nearby ditch.
Both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities have not announced any suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Chase believes her daughter and Hall may have been set up by someone they knew.
“The people who did it… they have to be evil,” she said.
A Family Left Behind
Thomas leaves behind two young sons, including one she shared with Hall.
Now, Chase is left not only mourning her daughter, but grappling with the future her grandchildren will face without their mother.
Through the pain, she is holding onto faith and a determination to see justice served.
“My daughter is going to be the reason why you don’t ever get a chance to do this to another person,” she said.
A Call for Justice
For Chase, the grief is constant, but so is her resolve.
What was meant to be a joyful birthday trip has become a case marked by unanswered questions, a mother’s intuition, and a plea for accountability.
