The grieving family of Mariah Murray is demanding answers after the 27-year-old woman was found dead inside a freezer of an abandoned home in East Oak Cliff, Texas, in a case that has shaken the local community and intensified calls for justice.

Dallas police discovered Murray’s body Sunday afternoon inside a vacant property off Georgia Avenue. According to family members speaking to FOX 4, Murray’s body was found inside a freezer, a detail that has only deepened the family’s heartbreak and horror.

“Nobody deserves to die like that,” one devastated family member said while visiting the scene where Murray was found.

Relatives arrived at the abandoned home last Thursday, May 14, 2026, still struggling to process the loss while hoping someone in the neighborhood would come forward with information.

“All of these people around here, somebody know who did it,” Murray’s cousin said emotionally. “Somebody seen her, they know who did it.”

The family says they do not know exactly what brought Murray to the vacant house, but insist that regardless of the circumstances, she did not deserve the fate she suffered.

“She didn’t deserve what happened to her,” another relative said.

Loved ones described Murray as someone with a bright personality and a joyful spirit.

“Mariah had a good spirit, always laughing. She loved to play,” a family member shared. “People just make mistakes. Maybe she was hanging with the wrong people. But whatever she chose, she didn’t deserve what happened.”

Neighbors in the East Oak Cliff area told FOX 4 they frequently saw people entering and leaving the abandoned property at all hours, despite the home being vacant.

Hours after Murray’s body was discovered, Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a fire at the same home. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and whether it is connected to Murray’s death.

As police continue their investigation, Murray’s family is urging anyone with information to come forward.

“Somebody had to see something and somebody had to know something,” one family member said. “So they need to speak up. Whoever did it, we want justice. We want whoever did it found, point blank, period.”

So far, no arrests have been announced and Dallas police have not publicly identified any suspects.

The case has sparked outrage and sorrow online, with many expressing sympathy for Murray’s family and frustration over the violent circumstances surrounding her death.
