Activist Danielle Moodie Calls for National Strike Against ‘Trumpism’: ‘We’re Running Out of Time to Save Democracy’

Progressive commentator and activist Danielle Moodie is sounding the alarm on the state of American democracy, warning that the country is rapidly approaching a point of no return.

In a powerful video shared on Instagram on April 22, 2025, Moodie issued an urgent call for a national strike, urging Americans to organize en masse before what she described as the destructive force of Trumpism solidifies into an irreversible threat.

“One of the mistakes that people are making in this moment is thinking that they have more time than they do,” Moodie said. “That somehow our democracy is going to be able to survive this wrecking ball that is Trumpism.”

Moodie, known for her sharp political commentary and advocacy for marginalized communities, stressed that while localized protests and movements like 50501 and Indivisible are making a difference, what is now needed is mass coordination and direct action on a national scale.

“We need people to band together to throw sand into the gears of oligarchy, to stop it dead in its tracks,” she declared. “We need to make those that are voting against our best interests uncomfortable in their day-to-day lives with protests and sit-ins.”

The 50501 protests have mobilized tens of well-attended protests in recent months. But Moodie believes the next step must be even bolder.

Her video message struck a chord with many, quickly circulating among activists, civic organizations, and political influencers. Supporters echoed her urgency, citing the erosion of democratic norms, voting rights restrictions, and rising political violence as evidence that coordinated resistance is critical now more than ever. “Definitely been saying this. Now is the time,” one person commented.

“This is our moment. It will not last forever,” Moodie warned. “We are running out of time to save our democracy. What we do now will determine what America looks like for generations to come.”

Moodie’s plea underscores a growing fear among many Americans that civic passivity could spell the end of democratic governance as we know it.
