British model and activist, Adwoa Aboah graced the British Vogue magazine cover of Edward Enninfulâs first issue as editor in chief. The cover shows Aboah wearing a printed minidress and a turban by Marc Jacobs, and bright blue eyeshadowâ in a style reminiscent of the magazineâs older covers. This is not Aboahâs first Vogue magazine cover. The model starred alongside Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner in the magazineâs March 2017 edition.
The model has worked for reputable fashion brands like Chanel and Calvin Klein, and recently nabbed a deal with Marc Jacobs as the new face of the brandâs 2018 beauty line. However, the 25-year-old says that being on the cover of Enninfulâs first Vogue issue is âthe biggest thing thatâs happened in my careerâ.
In addition to taking the fashion industry by storm, Aboah has been incredibly outspoken about her struggles with mental health. In 2015, the former addict attempted suicide and was in a coma for four days. After becoming sober, the model founded Gurls Talk, an online platform dedicated to inspiring discourse around issues like mental and sexual health. 25-year-old won GQâs 2017 Woman of the Year award for her work in destigmatizing mental health.
Aboah has also been vocal about the fashion industryâs need for diversity and inclusion. She understands the need for representation, and is working actively to inspire women of color to dream big!
