Nicki Minaj caused an album stir this morning with a simple post consisting of three numbers and an emoji.
After being absent for a while, she returned to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared: “3.27.26 [disk emoji].” This prompted the Barbz, her dedicated fanbase, to set social media ablaze.
Fans quickly deciphered the mysterious message as the release date for her upcoming album. Within moments, social media was alive with excitement, filled with memes and countdowns. One enthusiastic fan exclaimed, “It’s happening! Nicki Minaj is releasing her new album in my birth month. Best gift ever!” while another joked about already saving up for wigs, saying, “Nicki gon’ snatch them anyway.”
However, no announcement from Nicki comes without a bit of controversy. While her fans celebrate, some critics are questioning her timing. They suggest that Nicki released this news purposely after fresh reports indicated that Cardi B’s latest album, Am I The Drama?, could reach 200K in first-week sales and potentially surpass Nicki’s earlier release, Pink Friday 2, which sold 228K in 2023.

This will be Nicki Minaj’s sixth studio album, affectionately referred to as NM6 online. She’s been hinting at it for months, telling her followers back in July: “I don’t think y’all know what’s about to happen when this new album comes out, especially for women who have been powerful and feared [and] who have stood the test of time.”
Her previous album, Pink Friday 2, featured chart-topping hits like “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” but Nicki has emphasized that this new project will delve deeper. In a 2024 interview with Vogue Italia, she remarked, “I don’t want to rush. I want the record to mean something, both for the fans and for me.”
Now, the countdown has officially begun!
