French luxury fashion house Chanel has officially announced Lupita Nyong’o as its newest brand ambassador.
The celebrated actor and producer joins an illustrious lineup of Chanel ambassadors after making a dazzling appearance at the Spring-Summer 2025 ready-to-wear show in Paris during Fashion Week.
Nyong’o, known for her Oscar-winning performance in 12 Years a Slave and starring roles in Black Panther and Us, has long been a friend of the Chanel brand.
Over the past decade, she has frequently worn Chanel designs on the red carpet, including at the 2023 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles and the Fall 2023 Haute Couture show in Paris.
Her longstanding relationship with the fashion house made this partnership seem destined.
Speaking with WWD, Nyong’o shared her excitement about the new role:
“They [Chanel] were one of my first supporters. I remember wearing them as early as 2013, right when my first film, 12 Years a Slave, came out.” She expressed pride in joining the iconic brand, noting, “Of course, this is an important brand, a legacy brand, a historical brand, and I’m happy and very proud to add to that legacy.”
Nyong’o’s rise as a global style icon has been intertwined with her acting achievements.
Her work spans critically acclaimed films and voice-acting roles in major franchises like Star Wars and The Jungle Book. As she continues to excel in Hollywood, this partnership with Chanel highlights her influence in entertainment and fashion.
