Deon and Karen Derrico, the hosts of “Doubling Down With The Derricos” on TLC, have officially announced their divorce, which a judge has approved.
According to documents TMZ was able to obtain, the couple, who have 14 children together, filed for divorce on June 4 and was officially declared divorced on June 6.
The media outlet reported that the judge approved their request two days after filing. The 13 minors living in their home will be shared between them; they have 14 children altogether. Their eldest daughter, Darian, is 18 years old.
Deon, a former school bus driver, will provide $1,166 per month for each child, and Karen, a flight attendant, will pay the insurance premiums. Karen also plans to keep the last name Derrico as she didn’t request her maiden name be restored, and the judge approved it in the settlement.
The 53-year-old male star of Doubling Down with the Derricos posted a message about what’s most important to him a few days after announcing the divorce.
“When you have nothing else in this world, as long as you have your great health and family, nothing else really matters!” he shared on Instagram alongside a photo of his 14 children and mother, Marian “GG” Derrico.
The news of their divorce was revealed two weeks before Doubling Down with the Derricos’s season 5 finale on July 2.
An official description of the show’s season states that “the Derricos search for a new house has been a forever process and is putting a strain on Deon and Karen’s marriage.”
Following the announcement of their divorce, Karen and Deon made an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, stating, “Together, we remain unified in the parenting of our 14 beautiful children — their well-being is our priority.”
“We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we move forward for the good of our family.”
