A horrifying incident that unfolded in a Las Vegas apartment on Dec. 11 resulted in the tragic loss of four lives.
The victims include two children in what authorities are describing as a murder-suicide incident.
Authorities were alerted to the scene in the 7500 block of Oso Blanca Road on Dec 11 at approximately 10:03 a.m.
Upon arrival, police discovered five individuals with gunshot wounds. Tragically, the lives of two adults and two children could not be saved, and they were declared dead at the scene.
A third child was rushed to UMC Trauma, and their current condition remains uncertain.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Homicide detectives, in the course of their investigation, determined that an adult male was responsible for the violent act.
The suspect allegedly shot a woman, identified as Schinara Patterson, along with three juveniles, and subsequently took his own life, as stated in a police press release.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner identified the victims as Schinara Patterson (34), Ki’Ziah Cone (14), and Zi’Myra Patterson (6).
The coroner’s report revealed that Schinara and Ki’Ziah sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head, while Zi’Myra suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.
Court documents cited by 3News indicate that a marriage license was issued for Schinara and Marvin Ray Patterson on May 5, 2019.
A GoFundMe page has been established to aid in covering funeral expenses for the victims.
Schinara’s sister, Micheala Bernoudy, confirmed the child victims as Schinara’s children.
In addition to the heart-wrenching incident, 8NewsNow reports that Patterson faced serious charges, including five counts of lewdness with a child under 14, two counts of sexual assault with a minor under 16, one count of lewdness with a child under 16, and one count of first-degree kidnapping of a minor.
These alleged offenses reportedly occurred between 2013 and 2022.
Bernoudy, expressing her grief, shared memories of Schinara and her children. She described Schinara as a generous person, stating:
“She was there no matter who you were, how long she knew you, if she had it, she would give it to you.” Describing Zi’Myra, she said, “Zi’Myra, she was sweet; she didn’t have a mean bone in her body. Ki’Ziah was goofy; she loved to draw.”
