Rihanna has just joined the billionaire’s club.
According to Forbes, Rihanna is now worth a jaw-dropping $1.7 billion—making her the wealthiest female musician in the world.
She is also now the second-richest entertainer in the world behind media maven Oprah Winfrey.
“The bulk of her fortune (an estimated $1.4 billion) comes from the value of Fenty Beauty, of which Forbes can now confirm she owns 50%. Much of the rest lies in her stake in her lingerie company, Savage x Fenty, worth an estimated $270 million, and her earnings from her career as a chart-topping musician and actress,” the publication writes.
Fenty Beauty raked in more than $550 million in annual revenues during its first year of according to LVMH (a joint partner in the business). Rihanna quickly outsold beauty rivals Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics, Kim Kardashian West’s KKW Beauty and Jessica Alba’s Honest Co.
Although fans have been begging the star to hop into the studio and pump out another album, Riri’s new status shows that she did not lose sight of the prize.
Her focus has always been on collaborations.
“I like to think of my establishment at the Fenty house as a hub,” she told The New York Times Magazine in 2019. “Even if you’ve never designed something in your life, you might have impeccable taste: I’m welcoming everyone’s vision here, because that’s what it’s gonna take. I can’t just think I know everything. I’m very smart with my control freak. A smart control freak. I welcome other people’s expertise. I love new, young talent.”
She also told the magazine that she would not be switching up her straight-no-chaser style of working.
“Those factors do come into play, but I will not apologize for them, and I will not back down from being a woman, from being Black, from having an opinion,” she said. “I do know that the reason I’m here is not because I’m Black,” she said. “It’s because of what I have to offer.”
