FKA Twigs has sued her ex-boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf, for sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress.
The singer and actress filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior CourtShe dated the Hollywood actor in 2018 and 2019 while working together on the film “Honey Boy.”
“Shia LaBeouf hurts women,” the lawsuit reads. “He uses them. He abuses them, both physically and mentally. He is dangerous.”
In the lawsuit, the singer recalls an incident where she woke up to see LaBeouf towering over her. According to the lawsuit, she alleged that he violently squeezed her arms against her will and choked her. As he was strangling her, he was whispering, “If you don’t stop you are going to lose me,” the lawsuit states.
The alleged incident took place Valentine’s Day 2019.
“I’d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you and take away your agency,” FKA twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, said via the NY Times.
LaBeouf issued a statement to the publication, appearing to take responsibility for at least some of his actions.
“I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel,” he said in an email to The New York Times. “I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
