Halle Berry is giving Catwoman nine new lives in the form of adorable cat cuddles! The actress is commemorating the 20th anniversary of her feline fatale film with a collection of heartwarming photos of herself and her furry companions.
The actress took to Instagram and shared a series of photos of herself cuddling with her beloved cats. The actress, who played the iconic Patience Phillips/Catwoman in the 2004 film, appeared nostalgic as she reflected on the film’s 20-year legacy.
The anniversary comes at a time of reflection for Berry. While the 2004 film “Catwoman” received mixed reviews, it has recently developed into a cult following. Berry has spoken openly about the challenges of making the movie and how the experience fostered a lifelong love for cats.
Berry, the first Black woman to star in a solo DC Comics film, discussed the initial excitement and challenges of reimagining Catwoman, the studio’s interference in the creative process, and the film’s constant criticism.
Halle Berry admitted to Entertainment Weekly that she has always hated being the sole target of the film’s backlash.
The infamous comic book film was a box office flop, and Berry received a Razzie for her performance.
“I felt like it was Halle Berry’s failure, but I didn’t make it alone. All these years, I’ve absolutely carried it,” Berry revealed.
57-year-old talented Academy Award-winning actress recently adopted two stray cats she found in her garden, and she credits the 2004 movie she starred in, Catwoman, with making her a fan of felines.
“I became a cat lover because of it. I just rescued four kitties I found in my yard three weeks ago. I’m a cat woman through and through because of that experience and those relationships. That experience changed me,” she told the media outlet.
Berry also discusses the sexism and racism she encountered throughout her career, pointing out her perseverance and drive to continue pushing boundaries. She also recognized the success of other female-led superhero films, such as Wonder Woman, expressing admiration for other actresses who have played Catwoman.
