29-Year-Old Mother Stabbed To Death Inside Bronx Deli: ‘She Didn’t Deserve That’

A 29-year-old mother, Gwendolyn Guyton, was tragically stabbed to death during a violent altercation inside a Bronx deli on Thursday afternoon.

The fatal attack occurred around 3:15 p.m. at Jose Mini Market Inc. on Southern Boulevard and East 149th Street, leaving the community shaken.

According to police and witnesses, the incident began when an unidentified woman entered the deli and confronted Guyton.

The altercation quickly escalated into a physical fight before the assailant fatally stabbed Guyton in the neck and torso multiple times.

Alex, a bodega worker, recounted his desperate attempt to intervene.

“I was trying to save the girl and at the same time to get her out of the store before she got stabbed,” he told reporters. “But when I saw the knife, I was trying to help…the victim.”

Despite Alex and a coworker’s efforts to provide aid while waiting for medics, Guyton’s injuries proved fatal.

Mario Marrero, another witness, described the horrific scene outside the deli, where Guyton lay covered in blood before being rushed to Lincoln Medical Center. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.

Guyton, a regular customer at the deli, leaves behind a young son.

“She didn’t deserve that,” said local resident Shelby Miller. “Whatever she done, nobody deserves to be killed like that.”

The attacker fled the scene on a white bike, and as of Friday, police are still searching for her.
