What was meant to be a peaceful family getaway turned into a mother’s worst nightmare.
Michelle McAlmont is demanding answers after her 23-year-old son, Dinari McAlmont, was found dead on the shoreline of Paradise Island in the Bahamas, just 12 hours after arriving on the island with his parents.
Michelle, who traveled to Nassau with her family on Friday for a weekend stay, says she is now left in anguish—and with unanswered questions—after her son’s body was discovered Saturday morning, reportedly lifeless and bearing signs of trauma.
“They beat my son down in the sand,” Michelle told Eyewitness News Bahamas through tears. “His face was traumatized. His hair was full of sand. I need justice for my baby. I need justice.”
Michelle and her husband were staying at the Atlantis Resort with Dinari when he left them during dinner to retrieve a jacket and explore the area.
Hours later, resort staff reportedly came to their room saying someone claimed Dinari had spit at them.
The family began searching the resort in a panic, eventually creating a missing person’s flier when their efforts yielded nothing.

They say the next knock on their hotel door was devastating: resort staff returned to inform them Dinari was dead.
Michelle says what followed has only deepened her heartbreak. Despite her son’s visible injuries, local authorities in the Bahamas have not classified the case as a murder.
A postmortem examination is reportedly underway, and officials have yet to comment publicly on the exact cause of death.
The McAlmonts, who were scheduled to return to their Bowie home on Monday, remain on the island—grieving, seeking answers, and pressing for accountability.
“We were supposed to be on vacation,” Michelle said. “We came here with our son. We were supposed to leave together. Now we’re trying to figure out how to bring him home.”
As questions swirl around the circumstances of Dinari’s final hours, Michelle says she will not rest until the full truth is uncovered and those responsible—if any—are held accountable.
“No mother should have to see their child like that,” she said. “He was only 23. He had his whole life ahead of him.”
The family’s plea has begun to gain attention online, with calls for transparency and justice echoing from Bowie to the Bahamas.
