Ice Spice found herself trending when Kai Cenat unexpectedly requested her to do a freestyle. Fans expected a lyrical showdown, but what they got was something completely different.
Ice Spice partied with Kai Cenat on the eve of her debut album release to boost the numbers through a collaborative Livestream.
Kai Cenat and Ice Spice broadcasted from the back of a U-Haul truck in New York City on Thursday, July 25. The Bronx-bred rapper previously collaborated with Kai in August 2023, but they decided to reunite to celebrate the release of her new album, ‘Y2K’.
While promoting the debut studio album, Kai thought it would be an excellent idea for Ice Spice to showcase her lyrical styles and finally put haters to bed. However, Ice Spice had other plans.
Rather than comply, the 24-year-old chose to…twerk!
The live stream, which drew thousands of viewers, began with excitement as fans hoped to see Ice Spice demonstrate her lyrical abilities. Kai Cenat, the ever-entertaining host, set the tone for what he and many others expected to be an exhibition of Ice Spice’s rap skills.
As an instrumental drops and Cenat adds an excited “F**k ’em up” adlib, Ice Spice turns around and bounces to the beat.
“That was your freestyle?” Kai says after Ice finishes. Despite his confusion, he applauded and smiled broadly.
“That was my freestyle,” she confirmed, prompting Kai to applaud.
Ice Spice’s album, Y2K!, was officially released on Friday, July 26. The ten-track album has a runtime of 23 minutes and 19 seconds and features Travis Scott, Central Cee, and Gunna.
Y2K is a debut project, so there was a lot of excitement surrounding its release. However, there were quite a few reservations. With four of the ten songs already known to the public, fans felt Spice could have done more. Not to mention that the lead singles weren’t trendy.
In any case, the project has piqued fans’ interest, and only time will tell what happens next.
