Isabella Strahan, the daughter of NFL legend Michael Strahan, has shared a significant health update after battling medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, since last year.
In a new update posted on her YouTube channel on Thursday, the 19-year-old daughter of “Good Morning America” co-anchor Michael Strahan revealed that she is now cancer-free.
The 19-year-old made an emotional but empowering appearance on Good Morning America in January, revealing that she had been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a brain tumor that required surgery. Throughout her chemotherapy treatment, she and her father, Michael Strahan, have kept supporters informed of her progress.
Through her series of vlogs, Isabella Strahan has been very open about her cancer treatment journey because, as she stated on GMA, “I hope to be just kind of a voice, and be who people, maybe who are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at.”
Strahan was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October 2023, following symptoms such as headaches and nausea during her freshman year at the University of Southern California. She was treated at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Centre in Durham, North Carolina, and graduated in June. She had undergone three brain surgeries to remove the mass.
In her most recent vlog, “Goodbye Hospital,” the student and model was returned to Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, N.C., where she had her chemotherapy port surgically removed.
Isabella then underwent an MRI and attended her final doctor’s appointment to review her scans. Eight months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, she was overjoyed to learn that she is now cancer-free.
“It was a great, great scan,” she said. “Everything was clear. Cancer-free, and everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October.”
“I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice,” she continued. “I feel like I’m just saddened today knowing that I wasn’t gonna be going back for a while because I love them so much. So, that was my last hospital vlog until October!”
Isabella then described how much pain she felt the next day after the port was removed from her neck and stomach.
“My side hurts a lot. It feels like I got stabbed. I said, ‘Oh, it doesn’t hurt that much.’ I think it’s because all of the stuff wore off… I can’t stand up straight,” she said, wincing in pain. “I also feel like the tube was going into my heart because my heart started cramping. I don’t know if that’s supposed to happen, but… not enjoyable.”
“It definitely doesn’t feel great,” Isabella Strahan added while showing her bandaged incision.
