Jada Pinkett Smith hopes Willow’s relationship goals will echo her own marriage to Will Smith.
Despite Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s separation and marital problems, the Girls Trip actress said she would want her daughter Willow to have a relationship like theirs.
Remember in 2023, interesting revelations about Will and Jada’s marriage, including the fact that they had been secretly separated for years came to light.
While promoting her memoir Worthy, Jada told Hoda Kotb that she and Will, who married in 1997, had been living “completely separate lives” since 2016.
Also, during an exclusive interview with NBC, she recalled that her bond with Will was “fractured” by “a lot of things” and that they decided to separate after they’d both become “exhausted with trying.”
“I think we were both kind of just stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” she explained, later revealing that she and Will hadn’t lived together in two years.
Just recently, while appearing on Danielle Robay’s show ‘PrettySmart’ the host asked her if she would want Willow to have a relationship like her and Will’s, and the actress responded saying, “If it’s going to help her become the woman I’m becoming, yes.”
However, she explained that her desire for a relationship similar to the one she has with her husband does not necessarily mean Willow should go through the difficulties she did with the ‘I Am Legend’ star.
During the conversation, Jada Pinkett also revealed that she and Will are staying together despite the scandalous entitlement that rocked their marriage.
“As much as Will and I have tried to get away from each other, it’s not happening,” she said.
Jada also gave Will flowers and expressed her joy at having someone like him as a partner. “To know that I have someone by my side that, no matter what is dedicated to learning how to love and learning how to love me, and vice versa, I don’t know what else you could ask for.”
Although Jada acknowledged that her relationship has not been the “fairy tale” she had hoped for, she is still grateful to have the Oscar winner as her life partner.
