Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly weighing a potential bid for the presidency in 2028, according to a recent report from Politico.
Sources close to Harris suggest she has instructed her advisers and allies to keep her political options open, whether it be another run for the presidency in four years or a campaign for California governor in two years.
Harris, the first woman and woman of color to serve as vice president, is reportedly resolute in her political ambitions, telling her team, “I am staying in the fight.”
A former campaign aide for Harris told Politico:
“She doesn’t have to decide if she wants to run for something again in the next six months. The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel, give speeches, and preserve her political relationships.”
Harris’ tenure as vice president has been marked by historic achievements and challenges. As President Joe Biden’s second term progresses, speculation about the Democratic Party’s future leadership has intensified.
If Harris were to run in 2028, she would potentially continue breaking barriers while addressing pressing national and global issues.
