Lizzo just spilled some major tea (or should I say, ex-coffee?) on her impressive health journey. After revealing that she shed a significant 16% of her body fat, the singer is now opening up about the specific changes she made, and one of the biggest ones. Saying goodbye to her daily Starbucks habit.

In a candid TikTok Live this week, Lizzo opened up about her wellness journey like never before. And it’s not about six-pack abs or fad diets. It’s about healing. The singer admitted she used to drink two to three Starbucks drinks every day, a whopping 1,200 calories, before realizing that the sugar-and-caffeine spiral wasn’t serving her body or her mental health. So she gave it up. All of it. Starbucks, sugary breakfasts, even caffeine.

“I wanted to regulate my nervous system,” she explained, sharing how cutting out coffee and high-calorie treats helped her feel more emotionally balanced and physically lighter. “I’ve been working to get my anxiety under control for years,” she added. Now, she starts her mornings with something savory, like almond butter on toast, and she still enjoys sweets, but in moderation and with intention.

But it’s not just about food. Lizzo said she used to distract herself with chaos: people, problems, binge eating, and drinking. “I loved to distract myself… and I stopped doing that,” she shared.

Meditation, mindfulness, and a calorie-counting approach gave her back her power. “I had to start applying a calorie deficit because I was prone to binging.”

Lizzo also revealed that she had to actively implement a calorie deficit because she was “prone to binging.” She sees calorie counting as a “tool to fight against the American food system,” which is a powerful way to look at it.

The Grammy singer proudly announced her weight loss goals back in January, revealing she hadn’t seen that number on the scale since 2014! She’s feeling the positive effects, saying she feels “lighter, energetically and emotionally.”
