In a milestone for Detroit’s entrepreneurial landscape, Ebony Cochran has become the first Black woman in the city to own a Little Caesars Pizza franchise.

This achievement in 2022 adds to Cochran’s already impressive 15-year entrepreneurial journey.

Cochran, a dedicated mompreneur, marked the occasion with an Instagram post, revealing that she purchased the franchise as a birthday gift to herself.

In her post, she expressed her excitement about the opportunity to run a business rather than just being self-employed.

The Michigan Chronicle reported that Cochran’s success in purchasing the franchise was made possible by her thriving business ventures, including Blackwood Credit Services and The Tax Place, which she sold to H&R Block.

With her financial stability, she was able to make purchases in cash, eliminating the need for monthly payments.

While Cochran had always dreamed of having a family business, she initially hadn’t considered buying a franchise.

However, she was inspired to take this new direction when she learned of her daughter’s interest in finding work beyond their existing ventures.

“Having a family business has always been a dream of mine but this route allows me to not have to build it from scratch,” she continued. “This is my 15th year as an entrepreneur and honestly I’m tired of building from brick by brick!”

By seizing this opportunity, she not only fulfilled her own aspirations but also made history as the first and only Black woman to own a Little Caesars Pizza franchise in Detroit.

Reflecting on her achievement, Cochran acknowledged the lack of representation in her industry but remained optimistic about driving change.

She said she is inspired by a commitment to break barriers and pave the way for more diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurship.

Cochran’s story is an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women and people of color, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and challenge stereotypes in the business world.

With her determination and trailblazing spirit, she is setting a powerful example for future generations of entrepreneurs in Detroit and beyond.
