While Zelig’s incredible talent has graced the stages of New York, it is his mother, Kathy Williams, who has taken center stage in a different kind of spotlight — one filled with heartache, resilience, and determination.
Kathy Williams last saw her son on Oct. 3 in Columbia, South Carolina, when he left home carrying professional headshots. As the days stretch on without any sign of him, Kathy remains the pillar of strength in an unfathomable situation.
Zelig had texted his mother early in the morning, waking her up at 2:30 a.m. to ask if she was okay. That small act of concern has haunted Kathy since, as it was the last sign she received from her son.
Her voice trembled as she recounted the events during a recent interview with NewsNation, explaining that Zelig left shortly after with his headshots in hand and was last seen around 6:25 a.m. while she was on her daily walk.
“He’s all I’ve got,” Kathy shared, revealing that she has already experienced the unimaginable pain of losing two daughters. Now, the looming fear of losing Zelig hangs heavy over her.
Kathy described Zelig as a bright, talented young man who battled mental wellness challenges, recently discontinuing his prescribed medication.
His car was later found near a trail, a place known for its peace and serenity, but one unfamiliar to the Williams family. Despite the efforts of law enforcement and the community, leads in the case have led to dead ends, leaving Kathy in a harrowing state of uncertainty.
Zelig’s cousin, Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs, has also stood by Kathy’s side during this ordeal. Together, they have remained hopeful, searching for answers and relying on faith.
Zelig’s career, marked by incredible performances, now seems a distant memory as his family focuses on bringing him home safely.
