A new poll by ABC News/Ipsos indicates that 24% of Republicans view Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign positively.
The poll, conducted between August 23 and 27, reflects a notable level of cross-party support for Harris, who became the Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race in July.
Biden, who withdrew following a challenging debate with former President Donald Trump, endorsed Harris as his successor. The poll also shows that 93% of Democrats and 56% of independents have a favorable view of Harris’ campaign.
By contrast, Trump, the Republican nominee, enjoys stronger support within his party, with 79% of Republicans rating his campaign positively.
Among independents, however, Trump’s campaign is viewed positively by 38%, and just 13% of Democrats share a favorable view.
Overall, 56% of those surveyed believe Harris is running an excellent or good campaign, compared to 41% who say the same about Trump.
Among the general adult population, Harris leads Trump by a slim margin of 50% to 46%, with a slightly larger lead among likely voters.
Polls conducted in key swing states reveal narrow margins, with Harris leading in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Nevada, while Trump holds slight leads in North Carolina and Arizona.
These battleground states are critical for securing the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.
As the 2024 election approaches, the race remains closely contested, with polling data showing varying degrees of support for both candidates across different voter demographics.
