“Pop the Balloon or Find Love,” the Viral dating show that has captivated millions on YouTube, is coming to Netflix.
The hit series created by multimedia producer Bolia Matundu (BM) and his wife, beauty and lifestyle creator Arlette Amuli, will soon debut on the streaming platform, promising even higher stakes and celebrity surprises.
From YouTube Sensation to Netflix Expansion
The show, which amassed over 100 million views on YouTube, features singles signaling romantic interest by keeping their balloons intact or popping them to express disinterest.
Initially launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, BM reimagined the concept to create a mature and engaging experience, focusing on working-class participants.
“I wanted my wife to host and to bring a fresh take to the concept,” BM told Essence GU in a previous interview.
Fast-forward to March 2025, and “Pop the Balloon or Find Love” is set for a major expansion with Sharp Entertainment producing the Netflix adaptation, titled “Pop the Balloon LIVE.”
According to AfroTech, BM and Amuli will serve as executive producers alongside Matt Sharp, Dan Adler, and Bonnie Biggs.
Actress Yvonne Orji has been announced as the show’s host, adding her signature wit and charm to the new iteration.
