MIAMI — Rapper Dess Dior has tested positive for Covid-19 following her recent performance at the Rolling Loud Miami festival two weekends ago.
The “Bandz” rapper performed at the Hard Rock Stadium. The following day, she tweeted, “I’m sick af in soooooo much pain rn.”
Hours later, she wrote, “I don’t think I have Covid but ima get tested to be safe.”
After getting tested, the rapper confirmed that she had tested positive for the virus.
“Update: I tested positive for Covid & everybody who’s been in contact with me should go get tested asap,” she wrote.
Soon, she hopped on Instagram to offer a more detailed update on her condition.
“I got pressure on my eyes a little bit, not as bad as it was. I’m not nauseous like I was. I couldn’t hold down anything. I’m starting to eat a little more. I did lose my taste. But it could be worse and the best part about it is, I’m not dying… I’m not on my deathbed so thank you guys for your prayers, thank you for the remedies, but I will be fine. I can’t wait until this is over, hopefully, it’s over soon.”
Some have criticized the festival’s large crowds as the delta variant continues to run rampant throughout the country.
According to the CDC, the Delta variant can spread more easily than the previous strains of the virus. The strain has mutations on the spike protein that make it easier for it to infect human cells — meaning people may be more contagious if they contract the virus and more easily spread it to others. It is now the dominant strain in the U.S. The CDC recently confirmed that even those who have been vaccinated could catch and spread the virus.
Rolling Loud Miami did not require attendees to be vaccinated or to wear a mask which they say “is in accordance with local and state laws.”
