Motherhood has arrived for The Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett! The reality TV icon and singer recently welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett, into the world and took to social media to share her first photos from her new role.
On April 15, The 37-year-old star and her 46-year-old husband revealed to Entertainment Tonight that they are in their second trimester and expecting their first child later this year.
“Our doctor called us at 8 a.m., and she told us that we’re pregnant. We waited and waited and waited all this time. So to finally hear that, after those two weeks, the process has worked after a year of doing the shots,” Candiace Dillard Bassett revealed.
In January, the couple had one of their embryos implanted and waited two weeks to determine whether she was pregnant.
Now Candiace is over the moon as she joyfully introduces her precious baby boy, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett, who made his grand entrance on Thursday, October 3.
“He is just the cutest little thing,” the singer told PEOPLE in an interview for this week’s issue. “Chris and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so cliché to say, but he’s brought such joy to our lives in ways I never would have been able to describe before. It’s pure love.”
The “Drive Back” artist is absolutely thrilled about her new journey into motherhood.
“I just look at him and envision all the adventures we’re going to have,” the 37-year-old added. “Throughout my pregnancy, when I would talk to him in my stomach, I would say, ‘I can’t wait to see who you’re going to be.’ And that’s been the joy in my heart that’s continued after his birth. It’s exciting to think about. I’m so ready for a lifetime of being on the sidelines, cheering him on.”
Candiace shared that she and Chris are “so happy” after the arrival of their son and mentioned that she “already wants more” since her experience with IVF. This marks the fourth child for Chris, who has three other kids: 22-year-old Owen, 14-year-old Mateo, and 10-year-old Naia from a prior relationship.
Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett is already set up for success thanks to his first name, which translates from Hebrew to excellence and abundance.
