After Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were reportedly arrested on fraud charges, rumors have begun swirling about the couple potentially facing deportation, but what’s really happening? Let’s unpack the details.

According to The U.S. Sun, Wendy and Eddie were taken into custody earlier this month in Maryland for allegedly orchestrating a fake home burglary to fraudulently claim insurance money. It’s claimed that they falsely reported a robbery at their $1 million, five-bedroom, five-bathroom home back in April 2024. Both have been charged with felony fraud, and Eddie has retained a prominent attorney to navigate the legal proceedings.

This news alone sent RHOP fans into a frenzy. The situation intensified when discussions about possible deportation arose online, prompting many to wonder if the couple might actually be sent back to Nigeria.

However, sources from law enforcement, speaking to The U.S. Sun, indicated that there’s no immediate cause for concern regarding deportation. They clarified that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not placed any detainers on Wendy or Eddie, which means they aren’t currently at risk of being removed from the country. “They have no ICE detainers against them as of now,” the source stated, adding that ICE typically acts relatively quickly in similar circumstances, suggesting that the couple isn’t in imminent danger of deportation.

Wendy and Eddie, both originally from Nigeria, have spent most of their lives in the U.S. Wendy moved to America when she was just three years old, and Eddie came over as a minor a few years later. It’s believed that both are naturalized U.S. citizens, and they’ve even openly expressed their participation in federal elections, including voting for Kamala Harris in 2024. If this is accurate, their citizenship status could shield them from deportation. Even if ICE pursued its case, the couple would not face any immigration repercussions until their fraud trial concluded.

Regardless of how everything unfolds, the gossip from Potomac is at an all-time high. With Bravo reportedly filming for the upcoming season, Wendy and Eddie’s legal issues will likely take center stage.
