Rihanna returned home to Barbados for the monumental launch of Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, leaving fans and her community with an emotional and powerful speech about her journey, her inspirations, and her gratitude for the place that raised her.
On Thursday (November 7), the billionaire singer-turned-entrepreneur opened the first two Fenty Beauty stores in her home country. The brand, which debuted in 2017, finally arrived in the Caribbean last month.
Her wildly popular line will now be available in stores in Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Sint Maarten and Saint Martin, and Trinidad and Tobago on October 24.
As the pop icon and beauty mogul addressed her fellow Bajans, she reflected on her career, faith, and the influence of her roots, revealing a heartfelt perspective on her development as an artist and entrepreneur.
“Music was the thing that got people’s attention, but God had other plans for me,” Rihanna said passionately. “I was able to create in ways that were very sincere, genuine, organic, and authentic to the things that I love.” The audience cheered as she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to create something greater than herself.
For Rihanna, returning to Barbados was not just a homecoming; it was a tribute to the people who’ve shaped her, supported her, and inspired her vision for Fenty.
“To be able to celebrate with the people that deserve it the most… I cannot express to you guys what this day means for me,” she continued. “The community has always propelled me to the next phase and given me the strength. You guys have always inspired me.”
As she spoke about the vision behind Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, Rihanna emphasized that her homeland had been a constant source of inspiration. “This country, my people, my friends, my art—I love all of you guys.
“Coming home is always a pleasure. But coming home for something as monumental as this—I can’t even put it into words.”
During the launch, Rihanna shared that Fenty Beauty products would soon be available in Jamaica, sparking excitement among her Jamaican fans.
“We’re about to tear the rest of the Caribbean up, and Jamaica, I am sorry I am not there yet, but I am coming your way, and you gonna have something special too. Shout out to the Caribbean massive,” she said.
