It’s Sunday. And we are back again with a new “Sunday Sounds” playlist.
The theme this week (and most weeks if we’re honest) is “Feeling Good.”
It’s not just a nod to Chloe Bailey’s super sexy rendition of Nina Simone’s classic single, but a state of mind.
As women, we have a lot to overcome.
Whether it’s battling for respect in the workspace, navigating through the complexities of the relationships around us, motherhood, loss, or even some of the challenges that come with success — we put work in… always.
Lil Simz, a self-proclaimed introvert, talked to The Guardian earlier this year when she spoke about the challenges of staying true to herself while remaining successful in the creative industry.
“I know that I’m quiet, innit?” she explains. “I’m just very to myself and I didn’t know how to really navigate that, especially coming in this industry where you’re expected to have this extroverted persona all the time.”
We are not monolithic beings. We all have something that makes us unique. Special. And we should never forget that.
“We’re growing as young women. We’re finding ourselves through experiences — whether it’s through love, through heartbreak, getting over any insecurities we may have — we just wanted to put that into the music,” Chloe Bailey told AP News in an interview.
