SZA, currently reigning atop the charts with her critically acclaimed “SOS” deluxe album, “Lana,” recently addressed comments from fans regarding changes in her appearance.

The “S.O.S.” star, who has been candid about her journey with self-image, recently responded to a fan’s comment about her rumored Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.

It all began when a fan page shared a throwback video of SZA from 2020, capturing a moment during quarantine. While the nostalgic clip brought back memories for many, some fans turned their focus to her physical transformation over the years. One comment mentioned her rumored BBL and weight gain, leading SZA to respond directly.

SZA didn’t hold back as she acknowledged the challenges she’s faced in navigating public scrutiny about her appearance. She revealed that these comments have taken an emotional toll, particularly during one of the darkest periods of her life. The pandemic, SZA shared, was a time marked by profound grief as she mourned the loss of her grandmother while battling depression.

“Y’all say weird shit like this and wonder why I’m different and don’t feel comfortable with y’all anymore.”

She continued, “Covid was hard… my granny had just died… I was hella depressed and just masking. Not eating. Over working out. But I always had my childhood home to go to and get lost. Still do. Grateful to be in a much better mental space now. s/o to those days, though.”

This isn’t the first time SZA has tackled body-image issues head-on.

Many celebrities have expressed regret over getting a Brazilian butt lift over the past couple of years, and SZA is no exception. During an interview with British Vogue, the Snooze artist expressed her regrets.

“I’m so mad I did that s–t,” the “Snooze” singer said in the magazine’s December issue.

SZA caught her fans off guard when she revealed her BBL in 2022 and hinted at it in her popular song “Conceited.” The Grammy-winning musician underwent the BBL procedure after sustaining an ankle injury.

I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid,” she said. “But who gives a f–k? You got a BBL, you realize you didn’t need the s–t.”

SZA continued, “I need to get my f–king mental health together,” she told the mag, adding, “Not to say you can’t do those things simultaneously, just, for me, I realize wherever you go, there you’ll be.”
