Iman Shumpert is calling out his ex-wife and protecting his name.
The divorce drama between Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert is just getting started after the former NBA player filed a motion against his wife’s claims.
The new court filing has even more fuel to that fire.
Shumpert alleged in his response that Teyana Taylor cannot prove that he made her feel unsafe.
He is also asking the court to remove Teyana Taylor’s “cruel treatment” claim in her November 22 divorce filing.
Teyana Taylor secretly filed for divorce from Iman Shumpert in January this year.
The actress only used her and Shumpert’s initials in the legal documents submitted at a Georgia courthouse to avoid revealing details of their split to the public.
In her court documents, Taylor described her estranged husband as a narcissist who allegedly became jealous of her career despite bringing home a higher income from his basketball career.
She added that his behavior worsened when he retired from his professional basketball career.
The multitalented music video director stated in the legal documents that her ex was “oppressing her and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage.”
We now have an official statement from Imam Shumpert’s attorney, Stephen C. Steele, who gave TMZ some remarks on his next moves and priorities regarding the legal process.
According to Shumpert’s team, the only reason for his divorce was an “irretrievable broken bond.” He also requested that the allegations from Taylor’s motion, noting that he is irresponsible with his two daughters, should be removed.
Throughout the brouhaha, Teyana Taylor pleaded for privacy for the children’s sake as their divorce proceedings continued.
“I mind my business, don’t bother nobody & y’all know I’ve never played about my children, family & our privacy. Protecting my family is one thing I’ve ALWAYS done & for my children [and] I will continue to do so.
“Please, if y’all love y’all play nieces Junie & Rue as y’all have shown, please allow me & my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace. Love y’all,” she wrote on Instagram on November 25.
