Internet users have come out to support the actions of a grandmother who defended her grandson and his cousin during a disparaging encounter at Walgreens.

In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, a young man is heard explaining that he and his cousin entered the store to purchase snacks. But the lady snapped back at them, ordering them to leave or else she would call the police, he said.

An older woman is then heard asking her grandson to direct her to the pharmacy’s employee.

“Okay, so what’s the problem?” the grandmother questioned when she approached the woman. “My grandson came in here to purchase something, and what did you say to him?”

My son and his little cousin went to Walgreens to make a purchase before they could even get in the store good the manager told them to get out or she would call the police on them- (they are 11 and 12 years old, elementary school students) Racial profiling begins at a young age for African Americans – but you won’t get away with it- NOT on our WATCH! #FYP #stopracialprofiling #theseareourfuture

The woman responds by stating that the children had to buy their items or leave the store, adding that “a bunch of kids” stole from the store but “wasn’t assuming it was them.” She further instructed them to buy what they wanted and leave or else she would “call the cops.”

The grandmother then asked that the employee apologize.

“I apologize to you guys. I’m sorry for assuming,” she said to the boys.

The grandmother then asked that the woman provide her with Walgreens’ corporate office and her direct supervisor. It is unclear which Walgreens branch the incident took place.

“You created the situation by addressing them, and they didn’t do anything to you,” the grandmother continued.

Since the video was posted, it has amassed over 100,000 views and garnered almost 10,000 comments.
