Even though Ashanti wasn’t feeling her best, she whipped up a homemade vegetable soup that she described as having just “a little hint of pepper.”
Naturally, she enlisted her husband, Nelly, to be the first one to taste it, and let’s just say, it looked like a major ordeal for him.
In a video Ashanti posted, she casually shares, “So I wasn’t feeling good. So I made some homemade soup. I just added like a little hint of pepper to it.” The camera then zooms in on Nelly, who is taking a bite but seems to be in a bit of a panic, chewing gum like he’s in a medical emergency!
Meanwhile, Ashanti is in stitches, laughing. “It’s not even that spicy,” she reassures everyone with a giggle. “I swear it’s like a little tiny bit of black pepper in it.”
And the fans couldn’t help but join in on the fun. One person joked, “Black pepper is spicy to him?! Chile, I was thinking it was scotch bonnet pepper she put.” Another chimed in with, “This laugh is how I know the love is real lol. What life’s about.” One more fan pointed out the obvious: “Husband and wife are too funny! Thank you for sharing. I needed this laugh.” And a more practical commenter added, “She added red pepper that will open you right up. He loves her because he’s still eating it.”
Regardless of whether it was black pepper, red pepper, or just some of Ashanti’s special flair, Nelly was sweating it out like a champ and enjoying every spoonful!
This cute little moment ties into the couple’s new Peacock reality series, “Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together”, which is streaming now. The show dives into their rekindled romance and growing family, giving fans an inside look at what makes their bond strong after all these years.
Their story goes back to 2003 when they first started dating, then they separated a decade later, spent another ten years apart, and surprised everyone with their reunion in 2023. Just three months later, they tied the knot in a low-key ceremony. By July 2024, they welcomed their son, Kareem Kenkaide “KK” Hayes.
